A easter fire on the night from easter saturday to easter sunday is a common tradition, especially in the alpine area. On exposed places, like small hills, a heap of wood, mostly cutaways from trees done during spring is ignited and the whole village comes together to celebrate. The purpose of this tradition is to scare the winter away. A common practice among youngsters is to fire the easter fire of the neighbour-village the night before, so its usually well guarded during the easter week.
